We are glad we found Blue Spruces Cottages

Rustic seaside cottages like Mom and Pop would have had. If you want fancy go elsewhere. If you want to relax, and enjoy bird songs, fresh ocean air, and amazingly warm sea water to frolic in, this is your slice of Heaven. Beautiful sunsets, well-tended grounds to play around or lay in the sunshine, VERY CLEAN cottages with covered porches with BBQs, and wooden rocking chairs to use as home base as you explore the Island or kick back with the family. We are glad we found Blue Spruce Cottages and that Rob is working hard to make gradual improvements. This would be an awesome place to book multiple cottages for a seaside reunion!!! Instead of camping, I'd choose cottaging here. Dog friendly with some reasonable expectations is a huge plus for us! Thank you for being so welcoming Blue Spruce Cottages!!! - Alison

 

We have never returned a second time anywhere but we've already booked our trip for next year.

I've been looking for years for a spot to vacation that had both a decent cottage at a decent price and a beach that put the water close to my doorstep so that I could walk out and easily have my feet in the water. This place has both! We stayed in the 2 bedroom that is not waterfront but was still very close to the water and had an amazing view. It was nice and clean and had everything we could need inside. To watch the sunset over the Confederation Bridge as a boat sail by was breathtaking. We spent our days either going to and from the beach or into Charlottetown or Cavendish which are both about 30 minutes give or take. This beach is perfect for kids to play on because when the tide is out there are endless pools of warm water dispersed between sand bar after sand bar to play in, or you can walk out to meet the tide. Even when it's high tide the water is shallow and great for swimming. Plenty of space for your furry friends to run and play on the beach as well. The owner is super friendly and so is his family. We have never returned a second time anywhere but we've already booked our trip for next year. I recommend this place 100% - Melissa

 

Our family talks about our experience at the cottages almost daily!!

Our family traveled from Michigan in June 2019, and stayed at Blue Spruce! I had not been to PEI in 30 years, and wanted to take my children back for the fabulous experience! The cottages were wonderful, Fully equipped with everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of five, and having a laundry room was so grateful as we were on the road for 16 days. Robert was an exceptional host, helpful, and friendly. Our family talks about our experience at the cottages almost daily! 10 stars!! We typically do a trip somewhere different each year, but they now want to go to PEI each summer! Its' certainly a hike for us Michigander's, but so worth it! The view and location were amazing!

What an amazing place! We were on the island for the first time (5 adults, 2 kids) and stayed in cottage 9. The view and location were amazing! Robert the owner made you feel at home and was very helpful while booking and answering any questions I had! We will definitely be back and recommend Blue Spruce's cottages when traveling to PEI! You truly are a godsend to the property! Seeing what you have accomplished, and knowing your goals and objectives for the future, gives me the belief that you are raising this property once again to the standard it deserves to be recognized for, for the enjoyment of all, vacationers and the owners alike. Bravo to the work that has been done, and I can't wait to see future upgrades and details you plan on working for in the future. To know the property from many many years gone by, and seeing its near destruction in the 10 years before you arrived on the scene, and to see and feel the enthusiasm of where you have revived it, and are hoping to take it to, is pure inspiration, and will win the hearts of many repeat visitors wishing to make this a tradition of staying at Blue Spruces once again! The last 2 weeks I just spent at your property, were the most enjoyable vacation I have had in many years, and a reliving of so many treasured memories of the past, and that is thanks to you, and everything you have done, and are still hoping to do. Cheers, and see you again in 338 days for 2 more weeks again, but who's counting, LOL. I hope you take time to pat yourself on the back and catch your breath once in a while, as you never seem to stop, and you are continuously working on improvements and maintenance with the enjoyment of the guests' forefront of all your priorities, you are truly making a difference! Here's to many more years of much success, and the prosperity that will once again come to this gem on the red shores. The Rustic Cottages were special!

Thank you for having us this Canada Day weekend. We soooo, enjoyed every minute of it. The rustic cottages were special; exactly what we were looking for by the sea. You have done a great job in making the cottages feel warm, inviting, clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed! The kids enjoyed the open space outside, especially the red beach and crabs just steps away. For future travelers and families who want to stay near the ocean on a budget, this is it! Robert and his wife ensure you and your loved ones have everything you need. Robert, you work hard and obviously love what you do... Excellent Service!

What was so nice here is the location - close to everything on the island, close and safe for families - easy to watch kids and to allow them the freedom to go to the beach..., Bonfires near the ocean! I'm sure as the years go by, this place will become even more special! Can't wait to come back again. Maybe next time we will ask our friends and their families to join us - What an adventure! Thank again for everything! Can't wait till next year!

We arrived home a few days ago from a vacation that soothed our souls. I had searched for a location for a holiday for some time as I am disabled, I needed something close. We were welcomed by Robert and given the key to our cottage. Our cottage was perfectly situated. The Northumberland Strait was beautiful, when the tide was out you could walk for a mile. We felt at home entering the cottage. The cottage was very clean and cozy and the second day we were there we rebooked for next year. Robert, Suzette, and their young son Noah took ownership in July. They are more than willing to make your stay a memorable one. The sunsets are absolutely beautiful with a view of the Confederation bridge. The fire pits on the bluff were easy enough for me to walk to. Having laundry facilities on site was very helpful. We wish Robert, Suzette, and Noah success and happiness in their little piece of paradise. Can't wait till next year. - Sylvia & Michael

 

WONDERFUL...A DEFINITE 10!!!!

We are just home from our mini-vacation at Blue Spruces Cottages and pining for it already. The stunning sunsets, the gorgeous beach to walk on for miles when the tide is out, the 3 bedroom cottage that had everything we needed, plus very clean and cozy, and the owner, Robert, who was helpful with any questions or needs we had. Perfect location to explore any part of the Island via short drives and come back to quiet comfort, satellite TV, free wifi, and fire pits. Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay this year and how nice it was to have you there. We have seen several owners come and go in our 21 years of coming to Blue Spruces and you remind us of the good ole days when the Cameron's owed it. Island life at its finest

Our family very much enjoyed the property and its location. The cottages were spacious and very clean. It was so relaxing and peaceful coming back from exploring the island to this beautiful property, being able to walk along the beach, enjoying the few sea creatures waiting for the tides to come back in. This was our first time going to Blue Spruce and it will not be the last. Both Robert and Suzette had recently just taken over the property and they are the best you could ever imagine. It was a beautiful place to stay! We loved staying there. Owners are very friendly and professional. The beach is beautiful and warm. The cottage is very well stocked with everything you need to cook. My kids loved staying there and didn't want to leave. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!

Totally amazing and a perfect spot to spend a week or more exploring the entire island!

We loved the hospitality and attentiveness of the owners; only a week into taking over and they were busy making the place better! They had great laundry facilities and we had a quiet, relaxing, and comfortable stay in our cabin with a gorgeous view of the ocean! This is a great place to walk way out on the lovely, sandy beach and the water is incredibly warm! This location was amazing and central to get into Charlottetown to see Ann of Green Gables, hit up the coastal tours, and explore the nearby town of Victoria by the sea. We had fun walking around checking out the cute, quaint town with all its local artists - they have the best souvenir shop at a little sea shack - candles made out of the PEI sand! Super cool! We had a great experience kayaking; being able to get out of our kayak one mile from shore and walk around in the sand bar and find shells before paddling back to a fabulous Restaurant. We got to sit out on the deck basking in the glorious sun overlooking the strait we had just explored! Fabulous time; can't wait to go back!!​ - Jacqui & Blake - Rating 10.0

Pleasant stay and memories of PEI and Blue Spruces

We stayed recently in a small 2 bedroom cottage with our 4year old and 2 years old. The cottage is cozy and was rustic/retro but very clean. It reminded me of my childhood in the '80s and staying at my grandparents' cabin. The property has recently (July 2017) been taken over by new owners who greeted us warmly on multiple occasions. We loved the area and how peaceful it was. The view was amazing and the best part was the evening. We could walk the beach for miles at low tide. The red sand was soft and the kids loved finding the tiny crabs in the pools of water. The sunsets and view of the Confederation bridge were glorious. It was well located approx. 30min from Cavendish and 30 mins from Charlottetown. The kids loved the space to run and the little park on-site, and the fire pits. - Natasha - Rating 9.6

Friendly and focused on customer service

The new owners were very responsive

I've been to the blue spruces many times over the last 40 years. I've seen many ups and downs through changes in ownership. It's been sold again and I'm looking forward to the new management bringing it back to its prior glory. This year any problems we had, the new management was very responsive and took care of all problems ( left for them from the prior owner) in a reasonable time. Examples when checking in was told the toaster wasn't working. The next day when returning from a day trip a new one was sitting on the porch. A board broke on the deck and the same thing the next day it was replaced. - Allan - Rating 8.8

Beautiful Red Sand Beach

I love that the property is so private and is beachfront to the red sand beach. The water on the red sand beach coming in the Northumberland Straight is so much warmer than the water on the white sand beach coming off the Labrador Straight. - Shawna - Rating 8.8

Absolutely amazing place to stay. The cottage was clean and stocked with everything you could need. The owner is fantastic and always around checking in, so pleasant and kind. Best of all you are 1 minute from the gorgeous beach with the best sandbars and sunsets and close to any stores if you need to pick up anything. I am already trying to book for next year.
